Relevance: Know about the tripartite agreement constituting GTA, its powers, no. of departments etc. Also know about the Gorkhaland Hill council that ceased to exist 3yrs ago, Bimal Gurung, Subhash Ghising, GNLF, Madan Tamang etc. Also mark the proposed state of Gorkhaland on India’s map. If you have done it before, it may be the right time to revise it.
2. India against: Pg10
Relevance: A good read covering varying issues.
Clue: Know about the internal structure of EU: EU parliament, European Council, EU commission, Lisbon Treaty, Treaty of Rome, Maastrich treat etc. Who are Jose Manuel Barroso, Herman Von Rompuy and Catherine Ashton? Revise your notes in case you already have done it before.
Know the differences between FMCT, CTBT and NPT.
3. Interceptor missiles: Pg11
Relevance: One can skip reading the article, it’s too complicated. Just know about the Indian ballistic missile defence programme, PAD, AAD etc.
4. Wen strikes: Pg11
Relevance: Know a bit about the Tantrik Buddhism also known as Vajrayana, Kagyu sect, Dalai Lama, Panchen Lama, Karmapa Lama, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, Rumtek Monastery, Lobsang Sanjay etc.
I think the whole Tibet and Tibetian Buddhism is important from PT point of view because of the controversy over Karmapa Lama, new PM of Tibetian govt in exile and continued roar over the visit of Dalai Lama to some of religious places in India.
5. Redesign programmes: Pg20
Relevance: An informative article on Rural development. Some of the concepts discussed in the article are worth noting like setting up dedicated research institutions for policy feedback, Social Audits, Flexi Funds, security led development approach in Naxal areas etc.
6. FDI worth: Pg15
Clue: Know about the automatic and FIPB routes for FDI inflow, FIAA etc. Also know about the FDI caps on different sectors like Insurance(26%), Defence(26%), NBFCs(49%), Power, Drugs(100%) etc.
7. Other 2 markers and tidbits: India Show(Frontpage), AK Damodaran(Pg2), Tulsi Tanti(Pg5), Salwa Judum(Pg10), Aleppo(Pg11),J Hari Narayan(Pg16).
