The Hindu: 27th Feb 2012, Monday

1. Testing Telemedicine: Pg6

Relevance: Know about the various ICT interventions implemented by the govt. in the field of health. In a country with 1 doctor for over 2500 people and a dismal rural medical infrastructure, Telemedicine promises a future especially considering the fact that we have a teledensity of over 60.

National Broadband Network, Pradhan Mantri Swastha Suraksha Yojana, National Knowledge Network, Bharat Nirman Kendras, Sanchar Shakti project of DOT, PURA etc. are few important initiatives which need to be implemented earnestly to create any visible impact.

2. A necessary step: Pg11

Relevance: This letter by the Home minister gives govt’s rationale over the entire NCTC issue.

3. There is a potential: Pg14

Relevance: The visiting Singapore trade minister gives insight into the future of India ASEAN trade relations especially aftermath of the ASEAN FTA and CECA with Singapore and Malaysia.

Clue: Know about the historic Indo ASEAN FTA signed 2 years back like it was based on the concept of negative list, opposition by states like Kerala, proposed FTA in services and the stand of Philippines, target of 70billion$ bilateral trade in 2012 etc.

By the way what are Mode 1 and Mode 4 services?

4. Heed the warnings: Pg14

Relevance: Your weekly dose on Indian Economy. Make sure you know all the concepts and terms discussed.

What do you mean by the term ‘twin deficit’?

5. Other potential 2 markers and tidbits: Mamta Sharma(Frontpage), gTLD(Pg13), Rupert Murdoch(Pg13), Bharat Chhetri (Pg17 also see Sunil Chhetri).

I found only these items to be useful in Monday’s paper. If you could spot some thing more which is relevant to CSE please feel free to post in comments section.
