Relevance: The problem in India is that water is a state subject. India’s water woes will continue to haunt its policy makers until a permanent mechanism to solve the inter state disputes is sorted out. Relevance: An important development with some serious politico economic implications.
Clue: Know the problems and prospectus of Fertilizer sector in India. Do you know about the Nutrient based subsidy approach introduced in 2010, what is the current N:P:K ratio, uniform freight subsidy scheme, Fertilizer monitoring system, total amount of fertilizer subsidy, urea production in India, DAP, IFFCO etc.

Relevance: The govt is trying different ways to achieve its target of generating Rs 40000 crores by diluting its stakes in various PSUs. PSU share buy back is one such mechanism in which PSUs will purchase back the govt owned shares. Similarly, IPP is another innovative way introduced by SEBI where companies(especially promoters) can directly sell their equity holdings through an open sale in order to comply with the norm of minimum 10% public holdings required for a listed company.
