Relevance: Know about the advantages and disadvantages of using Bt crops in general, Bacillus thuringiensis, genetic engineering, Monsanto controversy, genetic engineering approval committee(GEAC), Biodiversity bill 2011 etc.

2. Need for new: Pg10

Relevance: There is an urgent need to increase the research funding for finding cheap vaccines, medicines etc for diseases like TB. In this context know about the OSDD-CSIR project, GATB, GFATM etc

3. 2200 year old: Pg11

Relevance: It’s an important discovery which will help in unraveling the mysteries of past especially those dealing with the growth of Jainism in South India. Mark the site Samanamalai in Tamil Nadu.

Take a moment out and read about the religion of Jainism in general, core beliefs like triple gems of Jainism (Right view, Right conduct and Right Knowledge), Shwetambar and Digambar, Tirthankaras like Rishab(1st), Prasar(23rd), Mahavira(24th and last),important Jain sites like Dilwara, Ranakpur in Rajasthan, Shravan Belagola in Karnataka etc.

4. Bhandari faces: Pg12

Relevance: Focus on the composition of ICJ, Hague, its mandate and other factual information like Indians who had hold the office in past like Justice Rau, Justice Nagendra Singh and Justice Pathak. It’s important from the PT point of view.

5. Other potential 2 markers and tidbits: Gopalgarh incident(Pg9), Anand Kumar, B Muthuraman(Pg14), President Joachin Gauk(Pg15).
