Relevance: A very good article on the India Bangladesh relations covering almost all issues. Know about the various dimensions of our relationship with the most densely populated nation of South Asia like PM’s visit to Dhaka last year, Framework Agreement signed, a protocol on land boundary signed, MOUs over renewable energy, Royal Bengal Tiger conservation etc. were signed, proposed Teesta treaty, Transit pact etc. Other issues like border dispute, growing Chinese influence, $1bn credit line, security issues , SAARC, Tipaimukh dam issue,BIMSTEC etc.

2. No substitute: Pg12

Relevance: A nice read.

3. A slow but: Pg13

Relevance: Nuclear security is a serious challenge in front of the global community. In this context know about the upcoming Nuclear Security Summit(Seoul, 53 nations participating), Washington Communique, LEU and HEU, proposed Nuclear Bank, Global Initiative to combat nuclear terrorism, NPT, NSG, FMCT, CTBT, Vitrification process, Basel Convention etc.

4. As trade soars: Pg14

Relevance: Take a moment out and prepare your general literature on India-S.Korea relations. Know about the Indo Korea CEPA, President’s Seoul visit, Nuclear deal, agreements signed on culture, media, sports and space, cooperation in space(Kitsat), Look east policy, East asia summit, President Myung Bak, companies like LG, Hyundai, Samsung, POSCO controversy etc.

By the way, what is the difference between FTA and CEPA?

5. Ahead of BRICS: Pg14

Relevance: A comprehensive article touching all the major issues in between India China relations.

6. Open access: Pg15

Relevance: “Secrecy should be the exception, not the norm”

-Supreme Court in its famous SP Gupta case.

Time has arrived when we should make an earnest attempt to realize it in reality. In this context know about the proposed NDSAP, Grievance redressal  bill, electronic delivery of services bill, core banking solution, Accrual based accounting, amendments needed in RTI, major e governance initiatives like e-court, e-bhoomi etc, Right to service in Punjab, Bihar, Rajasthan, concept of Citizen charters, Bihar special courts act etc.

7. More than mere announcements: Pg16

Relevance: An excellent article, very informative one. Jot down all the major initiatives taken by the GOI.

8. Other potential 2 markers and tidbits: Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia(Pg3 also see Ronu Mazumdar and Pannalal Ghosh), Rabindra Sangeet(also see Suchitra Mitra), Concept of GAAR(Pg16), Gagan Narang(Pg17), Mary Kom and Sarita Devi(Pg19),Nilgiri Tahr(Pg20)
